1st post ever... kind of exciting...

So I've never had one of these things before, I think I'll give it a whirl...

I am a crazy craftzilla... and I'm getting married in 2 years. Most of the things for my wedding will be made by me. I figured this would be a fun way to keep track of it all...

We'll start at the beginning... my engagement invitations

The picture is a little blurry, but you get the idea. :) The invitation was printed from my computer onto card stock. The picture at the top of the invitation comes out so each household gets a wallet sized engagement photo... We are holding the party at our local horse racing track, thus the jockey and horse in the background. The top and bottom lace detail are punched with a Martha Steward paper punch that I found on Ebay!! :)

Woo Hoo!! Wedding project #1 complete!!

Next wedding project was to come up with a creative way to ask my bridesmaids to be my bridesmaids...

The colors of the wedding are yellow and white, so I decided to make each girl a little yellow dress.

  1. The wooden top is a girl game piece from Michael's.
  2. I used Scribbles 3D Sparkle Paint to make the sweetheart neck like and the pearl necklace.
  3. The dress is made of fabric.
  4. I glued the sweetheart bodice directly to the wood game piece.
  5. The skirt is made from a rectangle piece of fabric.
  6. I sewed a small hem on the bottom part of the rectangle, then sewed a larger hem on the top part of the rectangle.
  7. I inserted ribbon into the top, wider, hem. (I did this the hard way... I inserted 2 pieces of ribbon. One from left to middle and out a hole I cut in the hem. And another from Right to middle and pulled the ribbon out a hole I cut in the hem)
  8. I then sewed the two short sides of the rectangle together.
  9. Lastly, I pulled the tails in the middle to gather the "waist", tied it in a bow, and cut off the loose ends.
  10. The doll structure was then glued to the top of a paper-mâché box
  11. On the computer I typed and printed out, double spaced with pretty font, Will you (enter) Be my (enter) Bridesmaid/Maid of Honor (enter) ?
  12. I cut those pieces of paper out and used a rectangle hole punch to make holes in the paper (on the other dolls I punched 2 sets of holes and ran 2 ribbons through, I found it to be more stable)
  13. I then wove ribbon through the holes and tied knots in between each phrase
  14. I glued the top of the ribbon to the top of the paper-mâché box with enough slack that you could see the message from under the dress
  15. I then stuffed the message into the bottom of the paper-mâché box and surprised each of my bridesmaids with one. :)

So... That's all I have for now... I hope you enjoyed seeing some things I made for my wedding...

Until next time...
